Return to Work Coordination - Introduction
This course is designed for human resource management and persons who are nominated as Rehabilitation Coordinators and those involved in rehabilitation and return to work programs.
Language and Literacy requirements for the course are: • Writing is required to the level of completing written in-class activities. • Reading is required to enable the determination of information through the student manual.
This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of the return to work process in accordance with the WorkCover and Workers Compensation requirements. Regulatory Requirements for a Return to Work Coordinator: In NSW a Category 1 employer must employ or engage a person as a Return to Work Coordinator. A category 1 employer is: an employer whose basic tariff premium is in excess of $50,000 per year; or an employer who is self-insured; or an employer who is insured by a specialised insurer, and who employs more than 20 workers (WorkCover NSW).
The course content covers:
- The main components of the WorkCover/Workers Compensation Scheme
- Key steps in developing a workplace rehabilitation program
- The role of the rehabilitation coordinator
- The principles of premium calculation
- Key issues in working with doctors and providers
- Provide basic information regarding worker entitlements
- Developing a simple return to work plan
Unit of Competency
Certificate of Attendance will be issued to successful students on completion of course.
There is no formal assessment for this course. A WorkCover certificate confirming attendance at the WorkCover accredited two-day course Introduction to return to work coordination will be issued.
Training will be delivered within a public training facility utilising theory and practical activities. Delivery will include instructor led presentations / scenarios.
