Description:
This course provides managers with an understanding of OHS philosophy, legal requirements and the principles of effective management of this function. Topics covered include: The size and scope of OHS, legal perspective, employer and employee responsibilities, OHS committees, the cause of accidents, and systematic risk management principles.

Content:

Topics covered include:

  • OHS/WHS Legislation 
  • Principles of a an OHS/WHS Management System including duty of care responsibilities, and supervisor and management responsibilities
  • Responsibilities and obligations of various parties
  • Consultation and Communication
  • Principles of implementing OHS/WHS Risk Management in the workplace as well as risk
  • assessment process and hierarchy of control
     

Unit of Competency

Certificate of Attendance will be issued to successful students on completion of course.

Assessment:
There is no formal assessment as part of this course. Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.

Delivery Method:
Training will be delivered within a public training facility utilising theory and practical activities. Delivery will include instructor led presentations / scenarios.
